It is the main factor in packaging. It is estimated that consumers or potential consumers pay special attention to the presentation of the products and choose the one that seems most attractive to them.


On the other hand, these containers must reflect the spirit of the company and allow the consuming public to identify it easily. You must clearly represent your audience.


In this sense, a clear example is determined by the type of packaging used in articles intended for use by children.


This means that their containers, as a general rule, are designed in bright and very striking colors. Also, his images often reflect animals or cartoons. In short, ingredients that attract the attention of children.



Regarding this valuable aspect, it is noteworthy that some special products, such as canned or packaged foods, require packaging that allows the design itself to facilitate the extraction of the content.


It means that its design, in addition to being aesthetic, offers functionality for consumption by the public once it is purchased and consumed.


A very clear example of these functionalities is represented by cans that open easily. It is a question at all times of simplifying the life of the consumer as much as possible.



One last aspect, but equally highly relevant, refers to the fact that an ideal packaging takes into account the necessary preservation of its content.


This is achieved, in most cases, by including enough material that serves as adequate protection during packaging, until it can reach the final consumer. This element is essential in the case of very fragile objects.


In some cases this protection is achieved with the use of preservatives. In other situations, the necessary precaution assumes a hermetic closure.


That is to say, according to the content they can take all the necessary measures to guarantee that all the products reach the public in optimal conditions.


Packaging types


The classical classification divides them into three, primary, secondary and tertiary. In this sense, the primary is in direct contact with the product. That is, it contains and saves it, with the guarantee of keeping it in optimal conditions.


In this case, these containers that store the product can be cans, bags or bottles and contain complete information regarding the regulations that regulate it and the requirements, both from the country of origin and where it is exported.


Recommendations regarding its use, some important warnings and the expiration date are also included, if the product warrants it.


This means that although it is essentially designed to protect the content, it carries a lot of branding, because it is the identification of the brand and the first impression that the consumer gets.


On the other hand, secondary packaging is nothing more than a set of primary packaging. It offers additional protection and facilitates marketing.


Its most common presentation is in large cardboard boxes and must guarantee that it can be stacked and handled during transport, without causing damage to the product.


Finally, a grouping of primary and secondary packaging defines tertiary packaging. In this case, it is about pallets and modular cardboard boxes. Its function is to take advantage of storage capacity.


Elements to consider in the packaging, according to the content of the product


It is an elementary factor to consider, it is not the same to transport food, liquids, fragile objects or jewelry, among others. The greater or lesser weight and volume are the main aspects to consider.


But it's not just these. In this sense, the basic elements to consider, due to the material and state in which the product is presented, are those mentioned below:

• Weight.

• Volume.

• Fragility.

• If you need to have some stability.

• If it is perishable.

• The level of danger or toxicity if it leaves the container.


In summary, the packaging comprises a series of strategies and relevant aspects used for the presentation of the products and thus arouse preference in consumers.
